DurhamGate marked the beginning of the festive season with its annual Christmas tree light switch on, which united its commercial and housing residents for an evening of celebrations.
The lights were officially turned on by Disney’s Frozen character, Olaf and Minnie Mouse.
The event, which was funded by DurhamGate, featured a visit from Santa and entertainment for the whole family, which included face painting, glitter tattoos, and Christmas carols courtesy of choirs from North Park Primary School and Tudhoe Moor Nursery, who were accompanied by Whitworth Park’s wind band.
With complimentary mulled wine, mince pies and soft drinks, the local community got in the festive spirit around the DurhamGate Christmas tree.
Helen Attley, concierge manager at DurhamGate, said: “The festive period is an exciting time of the year, especially for the little ones.
“There is already a growing community at DurhamGate, and bringing everyone together for an evening of celebrations created a great party atmosphere to mark the countdown to the big day.”
