The DurhamGate Care Home Event a Resounding Success for New Care Home

The newly-completed DurhamGate Care Home, in the acclaimed Arlington Real Estate development at DurhamGate, Thinford, threw open its doors last weekend to welcome both its local community and prospective residents.

The weekend was the first opportunity for people to explore the new purpose-built care home for themselves. Welcomed by owners, Adore Care Group, and a team of dedicated DurhamGate staff, locals, prospective residents and their families joined together over the weekend to see the gorgeous luxury care home for themselves.

Everyone was able to linger, meeting and talking to each other over an endless selection of cakes and scones, fresh tea, coffee and soft drinks. It was a wonderful weekend-long event, with new friendships forged and connections made.

General Manager, Karen Johnson, said “We have had a tremendous response to our event over the weekend, with more than 100 people visiting our newly opened home across both days!”

Karen added, “I am delighted that we have several rooms reserved already for prospective residents’ and assessments to carry out over the next few weeks. Many of our prospective residents are currently living in their own home, but they are actively seeking a safe, warm and friendly care home to come and live in.”

Dean Cook, Managing Director of Arlington Real Estate, said: “We are very proud to welcome Adore Care Homes to DurhamGate and be invited to the opening of this wonderful facility.  It is a great addition to our growing community at DurhamGate, which is really thriving and one of the most popular places to live in County Durham.”

The DurhamGate, a brand-new care home from Adore Care Homes, has now opened its doors. Set to employ over 70 care and support staff from the local area, The DurhamGate has many state-of-the-art features including, electronic care plan and medication systems, solar heating, air conditioning and under floor heating from ground source heat pumps.

During the Open Weekend, visitors were wowed by the facilities of The DurhamGate, including its own in-home cinema, the country-style tea room with its wide balcony and long range views and an elegant library. The Sky Bar proved to be quite a talking point, with its wonderful décor and intimate cocktail bar feel.

The DurhamGate’s 66 suites each come with full wet rooms, electronically adjustable profile beds, fitted furniture, mini-fridges and other stylish and useful finishing touches. Tailored to meet residents’ needs, The DurhamGate can also count on a high staff-to-resident ratio.

Samantha Holden, The DurhamGate’s Front of House Manager said, “I am delighted with the level of interest shown in The DurhamGate and was thrilled to meet so many people over the course of our Open Weekend. Our staff, who have been with us since early October, are all fully trained, many with previous experience in the sector. Our whole care and support team are very much looking forward to welcoming the first residents into The DurhamGate Care Home.”

Karen Johnson added, “We are not just a luxury care home; our people are passionate and committed to looking after our residents in the most fun, compassionate and caring way possible. Our provider, Adore Care Homes, has invested in modern electronic care planning systems and offers an all-inclusive package, where there are no extra charges for things, like newspapers, chiropody, hairdressing and activities, that are so integral to everyday living. We ensure that everything is included in one single fee so that our residents can love living with us.”
